About Cockatoo Island Experience:
Less than 15 minutes ferry ride from Circular Quay, World-Heritage-listed Cockatoo Island offers unique excursions not to be missed.
Now open after 100 years of being off limit to the public, students can engage with the island's spectacular built and natural landscape, colourful convict past and industrial heritage, making it a memorable learning experience out on Sydney Harbour.
Excursion programs cover a range of subjects across the primary and secondary curriculum which include colonial history; industrial heritage; changing environments; urban growth and decline; civics and citizenship; art-making and creative response.
Programs are delivered by experienced tour guides and extensive resource materials are available to support both pre and post-visit learning.
To enhance your unique excursion experience and to make the most of what Cockatoo Island has to offer, your school group can stay overnight on the world’s first urban harbour campground. The kids will love camping at the water’s edge and sleeping under the island’s cliffs and cranes.
Bookings for educational tours and camping are essential.
