Power House Discovery Centre

.Like most museums, only a small part of the Powerhouse Museum collection is exhibited
at any one time. About 50,000 objects are stored at Castle Hill in our state-of-the-art storage and preservation facility.

Now you can go behind the scenes of Australia’s largest and most diverse museum. It’s a unique opportunity to discover another side of the Powerhouse Museum and see some of the many objects rarely on display.

 Museum is open daily from 9:00am to 5:00pm (except Christmas & Boxing Day).
Special opening hours are available to groups and charters by prior arrangement.

Group Bookings

Special rates apply for group bookings. We can tailor your group experience at the museum to suit your special needs and your itinerary. Tour guides can adjust tours and their content to cater for your precise requirements. Catering is provided with prior arrangement and there are ample parking bays for coaches.

Educational Group Program

School groups are particularly welcomed and special content to suit education curriculum needs can be arranged. We are currently developing educational formats and material to cater for the primary and secondary school curriculum. Please contact us with any special requirements. One teacher is admitted free with every 10 students.

Education Centre & Research Facility - "The Jo Shannon Room" Support materials, books and documents will be accessible through the Education Centre in addition to a reading lounge, computer facilities, audiovisual, white board and other standard teaching equipment

 Looking for an even more unique experience? Do the 747 Wing Walking Tour - Venture out onto the wing of the 747, climb down in the computer bay and into the cargo bays, and sit in the pilot seat! It is something you will never forget. Now also available for guided tours is the recently arrived, fully restored Boeing 707, VH-XBA, the very first passenger jet registered in Australia and Qantas's first jet aircraft.

Royal Australian Navy Heritage Centre

 Australian history with a naval perspective you'll love a day out at the Royal Australian Navy Heritage Centre!
Located at the northern end of Garden Island in a public precinct which includes the Centre itself, fortifications from colonial times, 150 year old trees, the first known graffiti in Australia (dating from January 1788) and the old Signal Building from where you can enjoy spectacular 3600 views of Sydney Harbour.
The Heritage Centre tells the story of the Australian Navy from the sailors' viewpoint and contains many exhibitions including the HMAS Sydney Found, 100 Years of Submarines and A Sailor's Life for me featuring a mock-up messdeck.

Royal Flying Doctor Service Alice Springs NT

Learn the history of the Royal Flying Doctor Service and Rev John Flynn its founder.

On entering the building, visitors walk between two aircraft wheels which support the overhanging roof and into the foyer to be met at a sweeping desk located under a red, RFDS aircraft wing suspended from the ceiling. Today’s visitors have the opportunity to see exactly what it is like to be inside a full-size replica of a modern PC 12, a part of the exciting new collection. Other highlights include touch screen portals that provide insight into the lives of RFDS personnel, a 70-seat theatre, a café, conference and function facilities.  The ‘Doc Shop’ retail store within the Tourist Facility has also been expanded and now sells a wide range of souvenirs, books, clothing, jewelry, gifts and DVDs.

Highlights include: welcome video, Allianz Stadium Members foyer/time capsule, home dressing room, players tunnel and field of play, Sydney Cricket Ground Members Stand and home changing room, Sydney Cricket Ground field of play, Victor Trumper Grandstand and Yabbas scupture, Sydney Cricket Ground Museum in the Ladies Pavilion, the Walk of Fame and the Indoor Cricket Centre.

  • Tours depart from the Venue Services Office in the Allianz Stadium forecourt.
  • Tour is conducted on foot.
  • Note: Tours do not operate on major match days and public holidays. Bookings are essential as tour route may be changed due to stadium activities.
  •  Coach Parking & Catering available on site.
