Alice Springs Reptile Centre

The Reptile Centre is open from 9:30am to 5pm daily, however we recommend that if you are visiting during the winter months (from May to August) then the best viewing time is between 11am and 3pm when the reptiles are most active.


The Gecko Cave is the ideal place to start your visit to the Reptile Centre. Marvel at the many species of gecko on display that would be almost impossible to see in the wild, then wander through the rest of the live exhibits to get up close to the reptile fauna that dominates our vast Northern Territory landscapes that we live amongst today.

Alice Springs Telegrath Station

The Alice Springs Telegraph Station Heritage precinct is the site of the birthplace of the iconic outback Australian town of Alice Springs. The buildings, dating back to 1871 have been fully restored to showcase life at the Station at the turn of the 20th century. Students can take a step back in time and learn about the early settlement and harsh days when the area operated as one of 12 repeater stations along the overland Telegraph Line between Darwin and Adelaide.

Royal Flying Doctor Service Alice Springs NT

Learn the history of the Royal Flying Doctor Service and Rev John Flynn its founder.

On entering the building, visitors walk between two aircraft wheels which support the overhanging roof and into the foyer to be met at a sweeping desk located under a red, RFDS aircraft wing suspended from the ceiling. Today’s visitors have the opportunity to see exactly what it is like to be inside a full-size replica of a modern PC 12, a part of the exciting new collection. Other highlights include touch screen portals that provide insight into the lives of RFDS personnel, a 70-seat theatre, a café, conference and function facilities.  The ‘Doc Shop’ retail store within the Tourist Facility has also been expanded and now sells a wide range of souvenirs, books, clothing, jewelry, gifts and DVDs.
